Nordic – Baltic Seminar on Interpretation

The first Nordic-Baltic Nature Interpretation seminar took place in Denmark 8 - 10 October 2008. The aim of the seminar was to promote Nature Interpretation as an important part of rangers work.

The 2 key elements at the seminar were:

Intensive training  in Nature Interpretation methods and the founding of an “IRF-Nordic-Baltic Forum for Nature Interpretation”. A draft for convention for a such a forum is below.

It is the aim of IRF to organise a Nordic-Baltic seminar every year in a different country to promote the exchange of experiences and “best practice” within the field of interpretation. Denmark, having a long tradition with Nature Interpretation, hosted the first seminar at Sealand in October 2008. If you are interested in attending, please send an e-mail to Arne Bondo-Andersen - he is organising a mailing list of interested persons and organisations and will keep you informed of details of the Seminar as they come to hand.

It is my hope, that all rangers and Nature Interpretation Organizations in the Nordic - and Baltic countries will participate in the proposed Nordic-Baltic Forum for Nature Interpretation. I am sure that it will prove to be a really strong network.

You are very welcome to ask any questions concerning the seminar or convention. questions can be directed to Arne Bondo-Andersen or me, Rigmor Solem.

Best wishes, hope to see you at the next one.

Rigmor Solem

European Representative of the IRF-IEC
